Nashville, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2010) – Nominations were recently announced for the 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards (www.doveawards.com) by the Gospel Music Association (GMA). Amongst newcomers leading the field alongside established artists, producers and songwriters, Women of Faith, garnered a nomination for Praise & Worship Album of the Year and Inspirational Album of the Year with A Grand New Day (Women of Faith Worship Team; Chance Scoggins; Myrrh).
A Grand New Day features the talented members of the Women of Faith worship team as they join forces to provide musical leadership at the nationwide Women of Faith events. With soaring vocals and tight harmonies, the ten-song CD features tracks from some of today's top songwriters, and includes well-known songs like “Mighty To Save” and “In Christ Alone” as well as some new tracks like “Grand New Day” and “New Every Morning.”
The Dove Awards is Christian/Gospel music’s biggest night of the year, where top artists from every style of gospel music come together for a night of music and celebration as the GMA bestows the industry’s highest honor. This year’s nominations were announced in a special press conference held at Belmont University’s Curb Music Café in Nashville, Tenn. Ben Tankard, Francesca Battistelli, Brandon Heath, Jason Crabb, Jeremy Camp, Kari Jobe, Lisa Kimmey-Winans and Michael W. Smith were all on hand to announce nominations in 23 of 43 official categories.
The 2010 Dove Awards will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Nashville’s famed Grand Ole Opry House and televised nationwide live on The Gospel Music Channel, Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. EST. In addition to the dual Dove Award nominations, Women of Faith is gearing up for their 2010 Women of Faith Worship CD to release nationwide on April 23, 2010 through Thomas Nelson. A mix of up-tempo and introspective songs, the worship project features this year’s Women of Faith Worship Team made up of Michelle Swift, Corrie Henson, Kara Tualatai, Jovaun Woods, Allison Abbott, Jennifer Thigpen, Laura Cooksey and Janice Gaines.
